Jacquelyn Baldwin Rucker was born on April 10, 1932, in Fort Gaines. She attended Valdosta State College (later Valdosta State University) and graduated from the University of Georgia, where she received a B.A. in fine arts. She lived in Atlanta with her husband, Thomas Lamar Rucker, and worked as a supervisor in the Fulton County Department of Family and Children Services. Her work is permanently on display in the Governor’s Mansion. Rucker died after a long illness on June 26, 2007.
Rucker’s oil paintings Gazebo #2 (1984) and Sanford Stadium in June (1988) are part of Georgia’s State Art Collection.
